Big expansion plan for Tórshavn’s district heating
About 5,000 buildings in the capital region will convert to renewable energy sources in the coming years

All oil-fired boilers in the capital region should be replaced with sustainable alternatives by 2027.
This is one of the key objectives of Tórshavn’s district heating association, which has signed a deal with Betri Banki and Betri Pensjón for the financing of its expansion plan.

This transition would cut CO2 emissions in half compared to 2016 levels.
About 1,700 users are currently connected to Tórshavn municipality’s district heating system.
