Direct flights to USA in August

After years of planning, it finally looks as if direct flights from the Faroes to the United States are becoming a reality.

Initially, the plan was to fly to Newark Airport near New York City, but this has now changed to Stewart Airport, which is a 90-minute train ride from the city.

“Just about everything is confirmed now, and we expect to start this new route in late August,” says Atlantic Airways CEO Jóhanna á Bergi.

“We’re planning to start with seven weekly departures from the Faroes on Tuesdays. Then we will be aiming to expand the route next year.”
