Homeless shelter turns 25

“One of the greatest changes these past 25 years is that the people in need of place to spend the night are getting younger and younger.”
So says Bernhard Petersen, who has been part of the homeless shelter since it opened in 1998.
The Salvation Army in Norway has been a solid supporter all these years as Norway, Iceland and the Faroes are part of the same division.

“Without the support from Norway, we would never have made it this far. But we are now working towards becoming financially independent,” says Petersen.
The 25-year anniversary will be held at the shelter on Saturday at 2pm, featuring speeches by current and previous shelter managers.
