Government’s action plan on homelessness

Numerous interdisciplinary measures have been introduced this year to combat the growing problem of homelessness, especially in the cities.
“The new government is taking homelessness very seriously. We are targeting the problem from many angles, and the work is well underway,” says Sirið Stenberg, the Minister of Social Affairs and Culture.

As part of these new measures, the ministry is working with Tórshavn City Council to improve the conditions for homeless people who use the city centre as a regular hangout.

Another new project seeks to compile statistics on people who sleep in public places outside of the homeless shelters.
This data will be used to refine strategies for tackling homelessness in the Faroes.
