A vibrant mosaic of 134 nations

Having at least 134 different nationalities represented in a tiny population of about 55,000 is certainly worth celebrating.
Multicultural Week provides a window into the rich tapestry of cultures that contribute to the Faroese community.
It’s a week in which cultural diversity is celebrated across the islands, through food, music, art, sports and shared stories.
“I come from Mexico City, and I am excited to share my background with all of you,” said Sylvia Magnussen, who has lived in the Faroes since 2010.

“Getting immigrants integrated in all these activities, wearing their own national costumes, it’s like home away from home. It makes you feel accepted,” said Ljeoma Regina A-Hansen.
“I moved from Nigeria to the Faroes 15 years ago. This is now my home, and I love it here.”
Sergio Martinez, a Mexican who has been in the Faroes for four years, said:
“It has been very nice to share some Latin American music with the Faroese people. I feel that I can get closer to Faroese people by expressing my feelings through my music.”
