New college DKK 46m over budget

Despite the contractor insisting there would be no extra costs, the construction of Glasir college has gone DKK 46 million over budget. First came an application for a DKK 18.7 million additional grant. The additional grant was subsequently increased to DKK 28.4 million. And a further application for another DKK 17.6 million is set to be submitted soon.

The Finance Committee has called a meeting with culture minister Rigmor Dam tomorrow, asking her to clarify the financial situation.

The Ministry of Culture has confirmed that all bills associated with the construction of Glasir have now been received.

Glasir, located in Marknagil, Tórshavn, is the largest on-land construction project in the country’s history.
