Big study trip cancelled at the last-minute

Students and teachers from Tórshavn’s Glasir college were due to fly to Paris this morning, but they were forced to cancel hours before departure.
The reason is that the Danish foreign ministry last night changed its travel restrictions regarding trips to France from green (be alert) to yellow (be extra alert).
Faroese insurance firms operate in accordance with the Danish foreign ministry’s restrictions, as cancellation insurance applies if the foreign ministry has issued a warning.
Insurance complications
It is, however, not yet clear whether the 300 students and teachers will be compensated in accordance with the regular cancellation insurance rules, as the foreign ministry’s announcement is regarded as a recommendation and not a travel ban.
One third-year class from Glasir yesterday took off on its study trip to Portugal, which is still green in the Danish foreign ministry’s travel restriction system.
