Vágar and Klaksvík tunnel toll scrapped soon
The days of paying for driving through the subsea tunnel to Vágar and Klaksvík will most likely be over soon.
A bill with substantial traffic infrastructure changes is being prepared by the traffic infrastructure committee and the traffic minister.
The bill includes scrapping toll fees for the Vágar and Klaksvík subsea tunnels, lowering ticket prices for travel to and from Suðuroy, Sandoy and the smaller islands plus making structural changes to public transport company Strandfaraskip Landsins.

According to Fólkaflokkurin MP Jákup Mikkelseen, all government parties support the bill.
“The bill will be submitted to Parliament in the coming days,” he says.
“Once approved, which I am confident it will be, the changes will come into force this autumn. If not, it will be at the end of the year at the very latest.”
