Planned folk high school in Sandoy put on hold

After being mentioned in state budgets since 2003, a folk high school in Sandoy finally received an actual appropriation in the 2019 budget proposal.

But now the government has decided to take DKK 800,000 out of the DKK 1 million earmarked for the school in the 2019 state budget and transfer it to the Faroese Handball Federation (HSF).

This was deemed necessary as HSF had significant extra costs last year as a result of having to send the men’s national team to Denmark to play its Euro 2020 handball qualifying home games because the Faroese sports halls were not approved for international games.
