Emergency medical hotline expands

The ‘Læknavaktin’ after-hours GP hotline is expanding to also include help for people suffering from mental illness.

The expansion is based on recommendations from two recent public health reports, one about mental health and one about drug abuse prevention.

Both reports highlight the importance of providing emergency aid to people who suddenly experience mental distress.

The Læknavaktin hotline (1870) is intended for people who require urgent medical care outside of regular office hours.
