Føroyaprent, the country’s largest printing house, has produced one kilometre’s worth of election posters this year.

This is more than twice as much as for the previous general election in 2015, according to Hallur Onghamar, a sales consultant at Føroyaprent.

“We have made far more of the large posters this year – about 700 in total,” he adds.

Strategic placement

The posters have not only grown in size and quantity; many candidates have also gone for strategic placement of their posters.

“Some candidates have occupied an entire hill, traffic islands and roadsides,” says Allan Dalsgarð, owner of polling organisation spyr.fo.

“This can be an effective way to ensure that they don’t drown in the big crowd of posters.”
