Political unrest disrupts disability programmes

The current political environment, with the government at risk of collapse, could seriously halt the efforts to make life easier for people with disabilities.

She adds that most governments have shown a will to improve conditions for people with disabilities, but premature elections are a serious threat to the stability required to implement lasting change in this area.
“The housing shortage, the general lack of direction regarding disability policies and lengthy strikes are some of the problem areas that would become even more hopeless if we see a government breakup now,” she says.
