Youths want to learn about personal finance
The youth parliament has presented 13 proposals for resolution

Personal finance should become a compulsory subject in the 9th form in Faroese schools.

“All adults will at some point be required to pay taxes and take loans," says Kristina Berg, one of the proposers.

"Too many young people get into trouble with their finances simply because they are never taught about personal finance,”

Other proposals include:

- A harbour expansion in Sandur to allow Suðuroy ferry Smyril to land there after completion of the Streymoy-Sandoy subsea tunnel.

- A shortening the school week for 7th-9th forms to 32 hours.

- Increasing the moped speed limit to 50 km/h.

- Easier access to sanitary products for girls and women.

- A transferral of epidemic legislation and the chief medical officer jurisdiction from Danish to Faroese authorities.

- Lowering the legal drinking age to 16 for beverages with an alcohol content of less than 16.5 percent.

- Measures to prevent access to tobacco and snuff for persons under the age of 18.
