Polish sailor drowns in Tórshavn harbour
A man was yesterday found dead in the sea by Tórshavn’s western quay.
The man has been identified as a Polish crew member of Faroese trawler Ametyst, which was docking at the western quay at the time.
He had gone out on the town with a shipmate on Saturday night. Shortly before midnight, he returned to the quay on his own.

When his friend arrived on the ship later that night, the Polish man was not in his berth.
Divers later found the man in the water close to where Ametyst was docked.
Police say there are no indications of any crime.
He was in his early 40s and had a wife and three children in Poland. His family have been informed.
