Power outages and minor property damage

Winds of up to 44 m/s were recorded across the country this morning, and some roads are slippery, reports road authority Landsverk.
Shortly before noon today, the power was cut in the Streymoy villages of Kvívík, Stykkið, Leynar and Skælingur.
Public energy supplier SEV says it is waiting for more favourable driving conditions but is planning to have its engineers attend the affected areas by 3pm today.
Damaged roofs and flying debris
The strong winds have torn parts of roofs off some houses in Klaksvík, Vestmanna, Streymnes and Strendur.
Ørðavík residents have reported debris flying in the air.
A few cars have slid off the roads in the poor driving conditions in areas such as Gøtudalur and Tjørnuvík. No personal injury has been reported.

Public transport disruptions
Many coach and ferry services have been cancelled, and further cancellations are to be expected.
Air traffic has also been affected.
