Green power production reaches new high
The 23 gigawatt hours (GWh) of green energy produced last month made up 63 percent of last month’s national energy production.
This beats the old record from January 2014 when 17.5 GWh were produced from water and wind.
With last month’s high precipitation levels, 18 GWh were produced by water alone.

Of the 63 percent of sustainable energy production this January, 49 percent came from water power and 14 from wind power.
Significantly heavier winds than in January 2019 are part of the reason why wind power production was lower this January.
This is because wind turbines stop automatically when the wind speed exceeds 34 m/s.
