The annual Faroe Pride took place on Thursday.

Among the participants were Sirið Stenberg, the Minister of Social Affairs and Culture, and Bjarni Kárason Petersen, the Minister of Justice and Integration.

Joining them on the parade was Iceland’s Minister of Social Affairs and the Labour Market, Gudmundur Ingi Gudbrandsson, who is the first openly gay man to serve in the Icelandic government.

Gudbrandsson visited Stenberg to talk about various political issues, including LGBT+ rights.

His visit, and the ministers’ participation in the parade, indicate that LGBT+ rights are a priority for the Faroese government.

“Our collaboration with Mr Gudbrandsson is valuable to us,” said Stenberg.
