Suspects blaming each other in violence trial

Two men, who have been in custody since late December, today denied charges of extreme violence.

 

The accused men also deny having punched and kicked another man the same night, 29 December, in a residential property in Brattabrekka, Tórshavn.

 

Both defendants are accused of punching, kicking and trampling on a 46-year-old man, who according to the indictment suffered serious head injuries, including brain haemorrhages and a fractured skull.

 

In today’s court hearing, the two men accused each other of performing the violent acts, both saying that they, separately, did their best to help the victim avoid choking in his own blood.

 

One of the defendants called the ambulance services immediately after the incident.

 

The victim was also due to appear in court today, but he failed to show up.

 

Nine witnesses have been summoned to testify, seven for the prosecution and two for the defence.
