The finance minister has proposed scrapping taxes on long-term rentals in an effort to ease the housing shortage.

The new bill, which forms part of a larger housing package, proposes a tax break for long-term rentals by increasing the maximum taxable house rental income from DKK 50,000 to DKK 150,000.

It is estimated that this change will lead to an annual DKK 3 million reduction in local and national taxes, but the Ministry of Finance believes the measure will go a long way towards solving the current housing shortage.
